Helmets

In Motocross Equipment the first step to buying a safe Helmets is to buy one that is both DOT and Snell certified. Virtually all helmets have the DOT certification, but spend the extra dollars for one with Snell Foundation certification. It's your head so choose a good one!

The motocross helmet has a wider chin area and the visor is wider. Also the visor is designed in a special way so that the rider can wear goggle replacing a regular visor. The reason that the chin guard is wider is to better protect the chin area because motocross rides really whack their faces in all the falls they take.

Getting the right fit is critical for your helmet. If you buy it too large your head won’t be secured and protected. If you buy it too small, you’ll never feel comfortable. For a good fit, measure the distance around the widest part of your head. Knowing your hat size will also help!
Ventilation is another way to feel comfortable, if you are to hot and sweaty you will not enjoy wearing the helmet. But when you have good ventilation through the helmet your helmet becomes apart of your body and you are more comfortable in riding the dirt bike.
